The Value of Taking Classes
Artists should continue to take artist classes for several compelling reasons. Firstly, continuous learning fosters skill development. While some artists may feel proficient in their current techniques, classes can introduce new methods and mediums that enhance creativity and dexterity.
Secondly, structured classes often provide access to experienced instructors who can offer personalized feedback. This guidance can be invaluable, helping artists identify their strengths and areas for improvement that they might not recognize on their own.
Thirdly, classes create a sense of community and networking opportunities. Being surrounded by fellow artists can inspire collaboration, idea exchange, and motivation. These connections can lead to lasting friendships and professional relationships that enrich one’s artistic journey. You find your own artist tribe!
Additionally, taking classes can encourage artists to step outside their comfort zones. Exposure to different styles and concepts can stimulate innovation, pushing artists to explore new themes and narratives in their work.
Finally, committing to ongoing education instills a sense of discipline and dedication to one’s craft. This commitment can reinforce an artist’s identity, reminding them of their passion and purpose in a world filled with numerous distractions.
However, I must say. Sometimes when I spend several days painting with another artist I will find myself wanting to immulate their art skills subconsciously ! Which is usually not my style at all. So I have to struggle to stay true to myself. The process of finding your own voice or style can get confused in this area unless you are already aware of it. If you are just developing your own style or voice as a beginner it can be helpful to immulate others until your skills become stronger. https://www.artbytsh.com
Most classes I take I am actually searching for some new techniques, or marketing skills or online social media information. Not so much on how to mix my paint or achieve a style. I already have my own style since I have been painting this for 3 decades. Not to say we artist’s can always improve our own work.
In summary, continued education through artist classes is essential for growth, skill enhancement, community engagement, and artistic exploration. Embracing these opportunities can lead to deeper, more fulfilling artistic experiences.
When we create we push ourselves to move forward with our art. We push out of our comfort zone. Often we are met with tension but perseverance is the key here. Try to enjoy the process.
